In this article we're going to outline our favorite neutral, discreet chew tools for teenagers and adults.  Before covering each one in more detail, a few important notes:

1.  Some people call these products “chew toys”, hence the title of this article.  But they should actually be considered chew tools.  Toys are for playing, whereas tools exist for a specific function - in this case to meet an important therapeutic need.  Chew tools can help both kids and adults calm, focus, self-regulate, manage stress and anxiety, and much more.

2.  All of our chew tools come in 3 color-coded toughness levels:

•     Soft / Standard - this is the softest, “chewiest” option.  Especially with the more slender back molar shapes, you can “sink your teeth” into these the most.  We recommend going with this level by default, unless the person chews through or causes damage to anything else, in which case you may want to level up to XT for something longer lasting.

•     XT / Medium Firm - XT stands for "Xtra Tough."  This option is firmer, but still fairly chewy.  If someone chews through things, it's usually best to start with this level.

•     XXT / Super Firm - XXT stands for "Xtra Xtra Tough."  This is the most firm option.  These are pretty tough and rigid, but still chewable.  Although no chew tool is indestructible, these are usually the longest lasting option for heavy chewers who have chewed through the XT level, and/or who chew through other things quickly (chews through hard toys, chews holes in shirts very quickly, etc.)

3.   All ARK chews are made in Columbia, South Carolina, USA out of the highest grade medical grade materials. ARK’s Chewth Pick® (Smooth)

The Chewth Pick is one of our all-time favorite chews that we make.  These chewable "toothpicks" are among our thinnest chews and are very satisfying to chew on.  Behind the scenes, this is our go-to choice to chew on in the office.  If you're shopping for a handheld chew for a teenager or adult and aren't sure which option to get - this is really good option to start with.  It's also available in a combo pack of the different toughness levels which offers a nice variety to start with.

ARK’s Krypto-Bite® Gem Necklace

The Krypto-Bite® was actually the very first chewable jewelry (“chewelry”) option that we created almost 10 years ago.  Flash forward to today, and it's still a tried-and-true customer favorite.  If anyone is on the fence and not sure which chew necklace to get - this is the design that we recommend.

A “cousin” to the gem version above, the Krypto-Bite Tube has a similar hex/prism shape, but it hangs horizontally instead of vertically.  This pendant is especially nice if you like chewing symmetrically and not just on one side at a time.

ARK’s Chewlinder™ Necklace

The Chewlinder is similar to the Krypto-Bite Tube in that it hangs on the cord horizontally.  It's different in that it's wider, cylindrical instead of hex-shaped, and the hole through the center is larger.  The larger hole allows for more of a "collapsible" feeling as you chew on it.  The larger core also means that the pendant has less 'body' to it, so each level of the Chewlinder will feel softer than the corresponding level in the Krypto-Bite Tube.  So if you're looking for chewelry that's even softer, this is a good option.
